Essex County Standard: Dunne content with professional performance as U's win again Dunne content with professional performance as U's win again

Colchester United boss Joe Dunne said the result was all that mattered after his side secured a 4-2 win at Carlisle United.

A first-half brace from Sanchez Watt, along with Marcus Bean's header and Max Ehmer's own goal in the second half, completed back-to-back wins for the U's following their victory at Brunton Park.

Dunne said: “The result was important – how we got it was by the by.

“We’ve played better and lost but we spoke about it being a roll your sleeves up, backs to the wall kind of game for us.

“It was a really professional performance and we had to soak up a lot of pressure.

“Carlisle will feel aggrieved but we hit them with sucker punches and we’ve come away from home and scored four goals so we deserve a lot of credit.

“We weren’t at our best and at 4-1, I was shouting because I wanted a intensity and I didn’t want us to drop off, thinking that we’d won the game.

“That’s an area I want to improve with my players and it was very disappointing to concede a second.

“However, great credit to the team because we’ve come a long way and it keeps the run going.”

Great result and interesting to hear that JD not even that happy with the performance! What a turn around in recent weeks and great to see us on that first page of the league 1 table. Im sure we'd all agree that we would be content with 12th this season. 7 goals in 2 games is fantastic too.
Let's hope for some consistency now and that we can keep the guys fit. Heres to hoping next weeks prezzy is a full time Sam Walker.

Well done Colchie! There was an article a few months ago in the Gazette quoting Dunne saying a full squad with no injuries "will be a force". You know what, I believe him. Keep up the good work lads.
