Colchester United are continuing to play a waiting game over the future of loanee goalkeeper Sam Walker.

U's manager Joe Dunne said the club have done all they can to try to secure the services of the Chelsea shotstopper on a permanent basis.

And he added that it is now down to the player and his club to decide on what the next step will be.

However, Dunne is confident that Colchester are in a good position to land their chief target.

“We feel we are in a very positive position," he said.

“We have done all we can between myself, (chairman) Robbie (Cowling) and the goalkeeping coach and I don’t think there’s anything more we can do.

“It’s down to Sam now.

“There’s a possibility and it’s there to happen, but it’s between Sam, Chelsea and his agent.

“It's not a loan deal, we’ve offered him a permanent deal."
