Frustrated keeper Seal leaves Maldon and Tiptree

GOALKEEPER Adam Seal says he has returned to Great Wakering after becoming frustrated with a lack of opportunities at Maldon & Tiptree.
The 27-year-old asked to come back to the Essex Senior League title hopefuls after failing to break into the Ryman One North playing-off chasers’ side.
Seal joined Maldon on dual registration from Wakering in September last year, but by early December he had made the decision to leave.
He said: “I decided to leave because I did not feel I was getting the chance to play as much as I wanted.
“It was just one of those things – the manager had to make a decision and in the end he just went with the other goalkeeper.
“I feel when I did play it went well, but I could just not cement a place in the side.
“It was frustrating but that’s football and it was time for me to move on. “I spoke to (Maldon manager) Terry Spillane and (assistant manager) Russell Faulkner and they understood.
“There are no hard feelings and I hope they go on and make the play-offs.”
Seal has been told by Wakering boss Dan Trenkel he will be his second choice stopper behind the experienced Dale Brightly.
But Seal says it is a move which makes sense for him for lots of reasons.
He said: “I live about 10 minutes away from Wakering in Prittlewell so that is much more convenient for me.
“And it’s a club I know and like, with lots of my old teammates from Southend Manor there like Jay Smith, Gary Paterson and Aaron Baldwin.
“And hopefully we can win this league and get into Ryman One North and I’ll be back to where I was a few months ago.”
Seal will now be available for Rovers’ league trip to FC Romania on Saturday.
Trenkel said to Wakering’s club website: “Adam feels he was poorly treated and called me last week asking to come back to the club, which I was more than happy to agree to.
“His return will provide good competition for the position but he’s also a great team player and character to have around the squad too,” he added.
