Heavy rainfall has sunk Witham Town's hopes of getting their Ryman League division one north game against Tilbury from going ahead today.

Overnight downpours have left standing water on the Village Glass Stadium playing surface and a pitch inspection by a referee at 9am on Saturday showed that it wouldn't be possible to get the game on.

It is the second time this week that a game has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch after Tuesday's league game against Aveley was also called off.

The postponement means Witham's next game will be the Boxing Day clash at Soham Town Rangers in division one north.

Meanwhile, Witham have announced that they have signed attacking midfielder Kye Ruel from Ryman League premier division side East Thurrock.

Ruel has made almost 200 appearances for East Thurrock, including winning the division one north title with them alongside another Witham midfielder Kris Newby.

However, Town have also said that striker Dean Green has left the club.
