Essex County Standard: Purdy defeated in European title fight Purdy defeated in European title fight

Lee Purdy suffered defeat in his European welterweight title fight against Leonard Bundu.

The Colchester fighter produced a brave effort but lost after the referee stopped a gruelling and punishing fight eight seconds before its completion, at London's ExCeL Arena.

Purdy was floored by an impressive right hand by the experienced Italian in the final round and it was ultimately a blow from which he could not recover, as Bundu claimed victory.
