Turgott issues warning to League One defenders

BLAIR Turgott has warned League One defenders he and Dominic Vose can be a force again after the pair were reunited at Colchester United.
And the skilful West Ham United winger says he is keen to get U’s fans on their feet, after arriving on loan from Upton Park.
Turgott, who is line to make his Colchester debut against Notts County today, struck up a potent attacking partnership with Vose during their time in the Hammers youth team.
And after signing for the U’s on a month’s loan, the 19-year-old is hoping the duo can strike up a similar understanding for Joe Dunne’s side.
Turgott said: “Me and Dom played in West Ham’s youth team together for ages.
“We have a good understanding and me and him together is a good force.
“Hopefully, if we get the chance to play with each other we can show that to the fans.
“I used to assist him and he did the same for me.
“It’s always good to play with someone who knows your game and Dom knows my game pretty well.
“When I was at West Ham he played in the hole as an attacking midfielder and I used to play wide.
“We were a good combination and hopefully we’ll click again, if we get the chance.”
Turgott, who trained with the U’s for the first time on Thursday morning following his loan move, is yet to make a senior appearance for West Ham.
But he spent seven months on loan at Phil Parkinson’s Bradford City last season, where he made 11 appearances and helped them win promotion from League Two.
“The time I had at Bradford was my first loan and it was a good experience,” said Turgott “It was a good eye-opener for me, to learn what league football is about.
“They were in League Two at the time and they had a good cup run.
“It was good to get games under my belt and it was something different for me, to play against men.
“Hopefully with this loan I can just push forward even more.
“It’s a good progression for me and hopefully I can show people that I can play at this level.
“I’m raring to go and hopefully if I get the call, I can show people what I’m about.
“I like to get on the ball and try to make things happen and I’m hopefully a player who can get the crowds up off their feet.”
