Flo triumphs at Playgolf colchester
10:00am Saturday 30th November 2013 in Sport
Flo Lynch triumphed in division one of Playgolf Colchester’s Par/Bogey competition.
The tournament sees players compete in a matchplay format against the course, with full handicap allowance.
The good course conditions made for some great golf, with the greens in particularly good form.
Lynch (11) returned a score of plus three to secure victory with a winning score of plus three.
He carded eight pars, with six on the front nine, to see him walking to the tenth hole two up against the course.
The back nine saw Lynch play some steady handicap golf and with two further pars and a brace of birdies carded, he picked up a further hole to seal victory.
Jon Bailey (seven) was three holes back, edging his dad Alister (12) into second spot after matching the course, carding a level score.
He stated he could have returned a better score on another day, but the putts just were not dropping and he lipped several birdie attempts.
Nevertheless, it was still a solid display with 11 pars carded.
Alister’s better back nine saw him take third place, on countback from Mick Farr (ten) and Sam Southernwood (12).
Division two was decided on countback, after Will Elder and Paul Marsh both carded plus one.
Elder took pole position with his better back nine score and Trevor Barnet was third with a level score.
Barnet finished ahead of Trevor Hollingsworth and Lee Whitten, on minus one.
Alan Pearman won division three on countback from junior member Joe Cosgrove, after both carded plus three.
Pearman carded two birdies on the front nine and managed to put a better back nine score together, despite blobbing the tenth hole.
Richard Webb was third on minus three, a shot ahead of improving Nathan Soton and Bernard Keyes in fourth and fifth respectively.
