Martin Evans finished as third-placed British sailor at the Laser Standard Men’s
World Championship.
The West Mersea sailor was 39th overall in the gold fleet, as Oman hosted a sailing championships for the first time.
Evans, 21, finished behind fellow Brits Nick Thompson (17th) and Alex Mills-Barton (28th) following eight rounds of qualifying and finals series at the event.
The Dabchicks Sailing Club member was looking to enhance his reputation as one of Britain’s foremost sailors, in the Olympic class.
Brazilian sailor Robert Scheidt was crowned 2013 Laser World Champion in Oman for the ninth time, after winning the final race of the regatta.
