Colchester United manager Joe Dunne wants Craig Eastmond to cut out the silly fouls that led to his recent suspension.

Eastmond returns to the U’s squad for their clash with MK Dons tonight, having served a one-match ban after picking up five bookings.

Dunne believes having the former Arsenal youngster available again will add to the quality in his squad.

But the U’s boss says he has spoken to Eastmond about the number of cautions he has picked up, over recent months.

Dunne said: “Craig had played every game before the suspension and he gives us a lot of quality when we’re in possession of the ball.

“He’s a miss to any team and they were silly fouls that led to his bookings.

“That’s something that he needs to work on, for sure.

“I’ve spoken to him about that and there are a lot of similarities about them.

“Somebody told me the other day that he’s committed the highest amount of fouls in League One.

“He just needs a full season playing at a decent level and that will certainly make him a better player for next season.”

Bit harsh on Craig, he is our highest fouls conceded player but he has a way to go to beat Hanson of Bradford who has committed 40% more! There again Hanson has 2 yellows to his name but Craig has 5, maybe he needs to be a bit more crafty with his fouls I am sure Doogie could advise on that!

I agree with Joe Dunne on this as most of the fouls he has been boked for are totally needless. For me, Craig Eastmond has been one of the major disappointments of the season and hasn't lived up to his performances when he was on loan last year.

Eastmond commits silly challenges. He really needs to just be sneaky about it. He has been inconsistent too, a few good performances and the majority have been below par.

He is a young inexperienced player trying to play a senior players role, I think our lack of experience all over the park is causing all these bookings and injuries, players are diving in and getting booked or injured due to panicking in tight situations. Obviously we do not have the cash to bring in the experienced pro's we badly need so these young lads will always be under the spotlight.

All part of the learning process, He has not shown his full potential since joining at the beginning of the season but with 'Better Players' such as sears, jabo, watt and massey back i believe there will be more of an out ball available that may spark his creative edge. We must remember that this is only his first season playing "Mens" football.
