Iron's Isaac is ready to step into the middle
8:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in Sport
CHEZ Isaac is more than ready to step into the middle for Braintree Town.
The 20-year-old Iron midfielder has been more used to playing a wide role this year since joining during the summer from Boreham Wood.
But he may find himself in a more central position when they head to Hyde in the Skrill Premier today.
Skipper Kenny Davis, who is usually a key player in the centre of Braintree’s midfield, is likely to be out with a hamstring injury.
But Isaac is ready to move in off the flank if needed.
He said: “I played in the middle all last year for Boreham Wood, but I’m happy to drop in anywhere along the midfield.
“Wherever I’m needed, I’ll play there.
“We have versatility throughout the whole squad.
“And there are players who can play in a number of positions.
“There’s no getting over that we’re going to miss Kenny and it’s a huge blow to not have him available but we do have people who can slot in. “I’ve been enjoying playing out wide, but wherever I’m needed, I’m happy to play .
“I’m loving it here, especially where we’ve got ourselves to,” he added.
“We’ll be going to Hyde full of confidence.”
Braintree will be looking to take their winning run to four games after victories against Southport, Wrexham and Alfreton Town.
Manager Alan Devonshire confirmed that Davis was likely to be out and he said full-back Ryan Peters may also struggle.
He said: “Ryan has an Achilles problem and he’ll be touch-and-go for this week.
“I probably won’t risk it and see how he goes for Tuesday (at home against Welling), but we’ll monitor it and see how it goes.
“We’ll be careful with it.”
However, Devonshire is hopeful that striker Dan Holman may be fit to play at Hyde.
Holman has been out for more than a month with a shoulder problem.
And Devonshire also confirmed that Luke Daley may also be ready after recovering from an ankle problem.
