U's loanee Taylor happy to be back on the pitch
Colchester United goalscorer Matt Taylor insists he is just happy to be playing again after producing another impressive display for his new club.
Taylor, on loan at the U’s from Bradford City, followed up his solid debut last week by scoring their goal and producing a man-of-the-match performance in Colchester’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City.
The 31-year-old centre-back has made an immediate impression for the U’s after signing for them on a month’s loan, despite previously not having started a league game for Bradford this season.
But Taylor is refusing to look too far ahead and is just glad to be out on the pitch again, having been starved of first-team opportunities under Phil Parkinson at Bradford so far this season.
Taylor said: “It’s game to game at the moment and we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.
“I’m enjoying playing and I want to play in as many games as I can.
“I didn’t feel that I played enough last season and this season I haven’t played much, so it’s been good to get out there again.
“It’s what every footballer wants to do; no footballer wants to just sit there and get paid for nothing.
“Colchester has got some good young players and a good young manager, too.
“This club is going in the right direction, so it’s a good place to be at the moment.”
