End of an era as Kem leaves U's
Kem Izzet has brought the curtain down on his long career with Colchester United.
The 32-year-old has announced he is leaving the U's by mutual consent, after more than 12 years of service for the club.
Izzet is the fifth-highest appearance in the club's history, having clocked up 473 league and cup appearances for Colchester since joining them in 2001.
Izzet, who enjoyed a testimonial last summer, played his part in helping Colchester secure a historic promotion to the Championship in 2006 and played his part in the U's two seasons in the second tier.
He has been a mainstay in their team over the years and has been club captain since being handed the armband by former boss John Ward, in 2010.
However, he has not featured for the U's in League One this season and will now be looking for a new club, after his long association with the U's ended.
Izzet tweeted: "Sad to say but as of today I am no longer a col u player, like to thank all for your support over the years, will miss u all."
