Marshall wins Children on Horses class at Hickstead
4:35pm Tuesday 13th August 2013 in Sport
YOUNG Braintree rider Jordon Marshall won the first-ever Children on Horses class at the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in Sussex.
Marshall was riding her mother Louise Sillett’s horse, Micklow Madness, who they have owned for four years.
“He went really well today,” said Marshall. “He’s a big personality and he has to have his own way, but we go on really well because I’ve ridden him for so long.”
Marshall is now based at Wellington Riding Centre in Hook, which is run by her mother’s husband, John Sillett, who is the former manager of Towerlands Equestrian Centre in Braintree.
Children on Horses gives young riders aged 12 to 16 the opportunity to compete on horses exceeding 14.2 hands, which helps prepare them for senior competition.
It was the first time Hickstead had held this competition.
