ESSEX Eagles secured their place in the 2013 Friends Life Twenty20 Finals Day with a 47-run quarter-final victory over Nottinghamshire Outlaws.
The Eagles posted 187 for six having been put into bat at Trent Bridge Man-of-the-match Ryan ten Doeschate hit 82 from 44 balls, with ten boundaries, and was backed up with good knocks from Ravi Bopara, who scored 28 out of 72 runs in a fourth-wicket stand with ten Doeschate, and Greg Smith, hitting 21 before being run out.
The home side got off to a quick start but three wickets in eight balls by David Masters put the brakes on before Shaun Tait completed the victory by taking a hat-trick during an over that saw four wickets topple.
The Outlaws were eventually dismissed for 140 in 17.2 overs despite posting 46 in 3.2 overs for the first wicket.
