Dunne wants improving U's to prove their worth
9:00am Friday 22nd March 2013 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
Looking for progress - U's boss Joe Dunne wants his side to show they are better than their 5-1 thrashing at MK Dons, last November.
Joe Dunne has challenged his Colchester United side to show how much they have improved when they face bogey team MK Dons tomorrow.
The U’s boss is keen for his players to illustrate just how far they have come since their 5-1 thrashing at stadium:mk, last November.
Colchester’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Karl Robinson’s side was their heaviest away loss of the campaign.
And Dunne has been viewing re-runs of that big loss this week, as he bids to lead the U’s to their first win over MK Dons in six attempts.
But Colchester’s squad has changed considerably since that fixture, with five of their starting line-up that day no longer at the club.
And this weekend, Dunne wants his new-look side to show exactly how much they have progressed, in recent months.
Dunne said: “We were generally outclassed in that game.
“It was a big defeat - they were well worth their win and were on a good run.
“We’ve looked back on that game on Wednesday, finding areas where we’d let ourselves down.
“Realistically, we had eight changes to the side that played there.
“We’re a different team and a different animal now and I want that to show tomorrow but it’s going to be tough."
