Clinton Morrison rolled back the years to net a priceless winner for ten-man Colchester United at Bury – and then vowed to go on a scoring streak.

Morrison’s smart finish helped the U’s secure an unlikely 2-1 victory at Gigg Lane, after they were forced to play almost the entire game with only ten men.

George Porter’s fourth-minute red card left Joe Dunne’s virus-hit side with a mountain to climb against bottom club Bury.

But despite going behind to Craig Fagan’s strike, Colchester battled back heroically and goals from Josh Thompson and then Morrison secured them a remarkable win.

The U’s victory lifted them seven points clear of the League One relegation zone, with seven games to play.

And having gone nearly seven months without a goal before netting the winner against the Shakers, veteran Morrison is hoping he can go on and score more.

Morrison said: “It was a massive goal for the club.

“I was delighted to get the winner and it’s a big relief off my shoulders, because I’ve been waiting a long time for it.

“It’s not about me, it’s about the team but I’m buzzing."
