CLINTON Morrison is ready to ease Colchester United’s striker crisis and fire them to League One survival.

The veteran striker is set to lead the line for tomorrow’s home game with Crewe Alexandra, although the club yesterday completed the loan signing of QPR striker Troy Hewitt.

Leading goalscorer Freddie Sears is sidelined with a knee injury, while Jabo Ibehre starts a three-match suspension.

Morrison has found the net only once for Colchester and has experienced a frustrating first season at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

But after starting his first game in more than two months at Hartlepool United in midweek, the former Republic of Ireland international wants to step into the breach and play his part in helping the U’s stay up.

Morrison said: “I still think I’ve got a lot to offer and I know that I can still score goals."
