Coker the latest player to be released by U's (From Essex County Standard)

Sad to see Coker go. Never given a chance this season, miles in front of Rose, and all the times I saw him play he didn't have a bad game. Saw on the website that 'he impressed in his first full season in the Football League'. He actually won young player of the year at the club, and now they've cancelled his contract. All Colchester seem to do is bring in loan players and this doesn't make a team. They come and go - in many cases they come from a higher league and they are with us to get match fit and impress their own club. There will be no team spirit at Colchester until they build a team of full time players.

As has been said before, this is cowling united.the only connection with Colchester is that it is situated hear.when I go, if I see a good competitive game I'm happy.

I am no great fan of Mr Cowling but at least he has a long term plan for the club and does not do his planning on an ad hoc basis to mollify fickle fans. I sometimes ask myself where we would be without him?

I am unsure as to why Cowling is being debated here. As far as I am aware, Joe Dunne is the manager and he was told to make his mark on this squad. So anyone who comes in or goes out is down to Dunne.

I would guess that under no circumstances, Coker and co would be playing first team football and therefore told they can leave if they wish to. I would also guess that they held onto all of them until after the window closed in case another team was going to pay for them.

I happened to really like Coker. I thought he was a solid left back and better than what we have.
I don't know Coker on a personal level so it would be unfair of me to make comments about his attitude or commitments to the club.

Lets hope we get another left back in soon and wish Coker a good career in football.

All the best Ben. This is a story I've been expecting for some time. ALways felt he added to the team when he played and looked a threat. For whatever reason JD feels different and another one bites the day. I wish the lad all the success in the world and I'm sure JD has his reasons for this and the other departures. As long as we keep winning and the effort and determination is there as it undoubtedly has been recently I'll be happy.

Rather surprised by this. Never let the team down when he played and always seemed to give 100% commitment. Thought at least he would have been a good squad player. I wish Ben well in his future footballing career, and hope he goes out to prove himself a success.

Dunno where you been totally, but Cowling backed Boothroyd and Ward in bringing in these players and now he is backing Dunne in getting rid of them.

Maybe he has woke up a last Super, as for me I have been and still am at a higher level so maybe I do know what I am talking about after all?
