Dunne - trio need opportunity elsewhere
12:18pm Friday 1st February 2013 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
Exit - defender Michael Rose has had his contract cancelled by Colchester United.
Colchester United manager Joe Dunne has revealed the reasons behind his decision to release Ian Henderson, Michael Rose and Tom Bender.
The trio have all left the Weston Homes Community Stadium after having their contracts cancelled, as U's boss Dunne reshapes his squad.
Dunne believes it was the right time for Henderson, Rose and Bender to have a fresh challenge at another club.
He said: "I think they need to go out and find careers for themselves.
“We’ve tried to be fair and I believe there are times when players need to go out and find opportunities elsewhere.
“We’ve tried to help them and I believe they would benefit from moving to another club."

I could think of a at least another 4 more players that need to be shifted out S.A.P.

Joe is shaping a team that has players in it that WANT to play for ColU. He is, also I believe, stamping his mark/authority as manager (and good for him).
Far too many have turned out in matches in the past, done next to nothing, and still got picked for the next game, especially under the useless Ward.
I just hope that we can stay up and allow Joe to mould a team ready for next season, to give it a real go.

" Useless Ward" ??, Not doing so bad at Bristol Rovers, Just won 3 on the bounce and got them clear of the relegation zone.
Most new managers have a purple patch when they first start. Just look at Joe Dunne. Ward's luck will run out soon.

Some positive signs with Rose going - he was really awful as a left back. Joe was left in a difficult situation. Wordy going is a blow - loads of people believe the misnomer that he is lazy (a myth constructed through message boards) - that is daft, he is a quality player that scores a lot of goals from midfield. We will miss him.I hope that Joe and Mark can turn it around.
