On his way - Carl Pentney has left Colchester United after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
Carl Pentney has left Colchester United by mutual consent.
The 23-year-old failed to make a senior appearance from the U's after joining them on a free transfer in August 2010.
Pentney has spent time out on loan at Chelmsford City, Woking and Bath City and is currently on loan at Blue Square Bet North side Bishop's Stortford.
The arrival of Sam Walker on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season has pushed Pentney further down the pecking order at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and he is now free to find another club, after having his contract cancelled.

I also agree with Crazy. What is the point of the youth academy...I've lost count of the amount of players we've got in, then loaned out and then had their contract cancelled. I'm bemused by it all!!!!

Let's hope that we hear, in the next day or two, that he has got a job with a League club which will give him the chance of regular first-team action.
