GLOOMY skies and rain failed to put off hundreds of charity runners, who are expected to raise more than £3,000 for good causes.

About 200 people took part in the second annual charity run in Abbeyfields, Colchester, on Sunday, and many more turned out to cheer on the runners.

The race is expected to bring in thousands of pounds for charity the Army Benevolent Fund.

The first man across the finish line was Adrian Muffet, who completed the ten-kilometre route in 31 minutes and 18 seconds.

The fastest woman was Charlotte Smith, with a finish time of 37 minutes and five seconds.

The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Colchester Trinity and the Colchester and Tendring Athletics club.
