Castle Park became a sea of pink when more than 2,700 women took part in the Race for Life.

The runners completed two 5km runs around Colchester’s award-winning park on May 16 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The charity hopes to raise £243,000 from sponsorship from the event, which ran for the ninth time in the town.

Cancer patients, former sufferers and the loved ones of those who have battled the illness took part, all wearing pink in shades from baby to the shocking variety.
