Two men have been charged with burglary after an alleged raid on a Maldon shop.
Police were alerted to a break-in at the Co-op, in Cross Road, by a concerned resident at about 3.20am on Monday.
The two men, aged 21 and 28, who are both from Dagenham, were later arrested by police and charged with burglary and stealing £500 of cigarettes.
The 28-year-old was also charged with driving without a license and insurance.
They have been bailed to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on July 11.
