Clear-up – councillor Dave Harris sweeps up in the play area
CCTV footage has been requested after yobs twice left broken glass around a play area.
Councillor Dave Harris swept up dangerous shards from the School Road, Monkwick, playground on two successive mornings.
The Colchester councillor for Berechurch has now asked for CCTV images covering the area to be examined to help find the culprits.
Mr Harris said there was a risk the glass could have hurt a child using the play equipment, or harmed a family pet.
He said: “It is really frustrating as those doing this are putting people’s safety at risk, especially young tots, and pets as well.
“It really does beggar belief how they think it is right to do this.
“I should not be the one sweeping this up, but I could not have it on my conscience knowing it was there.”
The play area is close to Monkwick Junior and Infant schools.
