Decision delay over housing estate plan

A DECISION on whether a huge new housing estate and railway station should be built will be delayed.

Chelmsford councillors were due to decide whether to agree the Greater Beaulieu Park development in early August, but the meeting has now been put back.

Scores of residents have objected to the new development and thousands of homes being built to the north of Chelmsford.

Developer Countryside Zest is keen to build as many as 3,600 new homes near to Beaulieu Park and a host of related infrastructure.

Facilities would also include a new business park, shops, hotel, leisure facility, park, new roads and education and community facilities.

The £1billion scheme is a major part of plans to expand north-east Chelmsford, but almost 200 people have made comments to Chelmsford Council about the proposal.
