No bin collection delays, says council
3:16pm Monday 16th April 2012 in Countywide news By James Cox
RUBBISH collections will continue as normal after fears that broken vehicles would cause delays.
Colchester Council last week announced that some council houses and flats would miss collections due to malfunctioning bin lifts on its dustcarts.
But the authority has today allayed fears by confirming it now has a fully functional fleet and will not be announcing delays.
A spokesman said: “We can now confirm that we have a full fleet of bin lift vehicles available to carryout successful collections from all premises types.
“We had experienced a higher than normal volume of breakdowns with our bin lifts last week which has now been resolved.
“There was one outstanding premise to be collected which has been rectified today.”
The initial delay announcement, made on Friday 13, would have affected premises that use large, communal paladin bins.
