Pupils at a Colchester primary school picked up some writing tips from a popular children's author.
Essex-born writer Jack Trelawny, the man behind the Kernowland series, visited youngsters at St Mary's School in London Road to talk about his work.
He read extracts to the lower school's 148 pupils, as well as signing copies of his three books, The Crystal Pool, Darkness Day and Invasion of Evil, which follow the adventures of siblings Tizzie and Louis.
His visit brought the Stanway school's book week to a close which had featured five days of reading-themed games, competitions, cookery, puppet-making and spelling tests.
