A club that has been going for almost 20 years still has a good attendance.

The Halstead Tea Dance meets monthly in Queen’s Hall, in Broom Hill, Halstead on a Thursday.

About 40 to 60 people attend every week and the group is very sociable.

Dance styles include line dancing, sequence dancing, and ballroom.

Organiser Sylvia Merryfield said: “It was a lovely afternoon.

“We had a new group come from the Colne View Care Home and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.

“There were also a lot of people from Cedars Care Home and some of them got up and jigged about a bit.

“Even if they don’t dance, they enjoy the music.

“The DJ John Carousel played some rock and roll music and that got everyone up and dancing.

“We are all looking forward to the next one.

“The dances are hard work to organise, but it is worth it to the see the smiles on their faces.”

The dancers next meet on September 17 in the same place.

There is a special dance at Christmas, with a glass of wine, a buffet and mince pies, on December 17.
