Adventurer Charlie Pitcher's world record solo-row attempt around the coast of the UK was thwarted by bad weather.
The Felsted father-of-four had twice broken the world record for fastest time rowing across the Atlantic alone.
And On May 31, the 52-year-old took off from Burnham-on-Crouch in his carbon-hulled, 6.5m 'Soma of Essex', to endure over 2000 miles of violent shore line on behalf of RNLI, The C Group and Big Change.
However, on Wednesday July 1, while at the tip of Scotland, unforgiving weather and dicey tides brought the intrepid business-owner’s challenge to an end.
His website reads: “With the greatest regret you can imagine, I have to announce my GB row for charity has come to a halt.
“This news is disappointing for all to learn, but it has been a really hard decision I've had to make and not without tears."
