MESSAGES of unity and support were sent skyward as pupils united to fight bullying.
One hundred red balloons were released at Philip Morant School in Colchester in the latest of a series of initiatives to raise awareness of anti-bullying.
Pupils have also run a poster campaign after having training with equality campaign group Stonewall under the title of “Some people are gay. Get over it!”
Pupils and staff came together to release the balloons from the school’s playing fields. Each of the balloons carried an antibullying message.
It was organised by pupilled group the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, which are 16 Year 10 students who offer pastoral support.
James Nunn, associate assistant principal, said: “I’m proud and delighted with all the hard work and dedication shown by our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.
“They have continued to work tirelessly this academic year to raise anti-bullying awareness through numerous assemblies, a number of initiatives and events.”
