The Chair of Essex Pride Garry Ormes said: "For the many thousands that have been to Essex Pride, not only has it been a time for fun and a chance to enjoy the moment with friends, but I have also seen younger people who are coming to terms with their sexuality, who have met other like-minded people at Essex Pride and no longer feel alone.

"I have seen families coming along to support their LGBT sons, daughters, brothers and sisters.

"I have also seen how the perception of gay people has been changed, by those that come to this event.

"It really is important.

"By showing your support and attending Essex Pride, you are helping to achieve a much more accepting community, and showing that Essex is a diverse and accepting place to live, plus it's a really fun day out for the whole community to enjoy."
