COLCHESTER’S Lexden Road is closed following a serious car crash involving an unmarked police car.

Police officers, paramedics and fire crews are currently at the scene.
The accident happened between West Lodge Road and Sussex Road.
UPDATE 4.35pm
The accident involved one vehicle.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 2.56pm this afternoon.
Two people were trapped and had to be cut free. They were released just before 4pm.
UPDATE 4.50pm
All traffic from the town centre is being diverted up Beverley Road.
UPDATE 5pm
The crash involved an unmarked police car and an Audi A4.
Two police officers had to be cut free from the police car.
The road is expected to be closed for at least another hour.
UPDATE 5.30pm
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust said: "Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer attended."
One of the officers had neck pain.
Both were taken to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment.
