Three hundred jobs have been created at Stansted Airport after twelve new cafes, bars and restaurants were unveiled.

The second phase of the transformation of the terminal building, which has cost £80million, was revealed today by Charlie Cornish, chief executive of parent company Manchester Airports Group (MAG).

The renovations have meant that the departure lounge has been extended by more than half and there is 70 per cent more seating as well as free wi-fi, more charging points and flight countdown screens.

The new units include the first ever James Martin Kitchen, a premium bakery headed by the celebrity chef, who was at the airport this week to unveil it.

There is also a new Wetherspoons pub, Starbucks, Burger King, Pret A Manger and the first Harris+Hoole - a growing high street coffee chain - at an airport.
