Police are appealing for information after a man in his 40s was found with serious head injuries in Halstead.

Officers would like to speak to two potential witnesses who were seen in the area at the time.

They are urged to make contact with the police.

One is  a white man, between 16-25 years old, wearing blue jeans with a grey hooded top and carrying a bottle of water.

The other is a white woman of a similar age, wearing a white top and black trousers with her hair tied in a ponytail.

She was seen running past Scenarios a couple of times.

Police were called by the Ambulance service to Butler Road shortly after 2.30am on Saturday, February 28 and found a man seriously injured.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital and transferred to Queen's Hospital, Romford, for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

Police are conducting enquiries in the local area and urge anyone with information to come forward.

The injured man is described as white, 6 ft 2 ins tall, with grey hair and wearing a blue Adidas top, black jacket, dark jeans and white trainers.

DI Neil Pudney said: "We believe the man to have sustained the injury between 1.30am and 2.30am and it is likely he had previously attended Scenarios night club nearby.

"I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and urge them to contact officers.

"We are still trying to ascertain how the man sustained the injuries and I'd like to appeal to the two potential witnesses as described as they might have vital information.”
