COUNCILLORS have called for reassurance that gaps at danger junctions on the A120 will remain open after a roundabout is built.

A new 50 mph speed limit is currently being enforced by average speed cameras between Hare Green, Pellens Corner and Horsley Cross.

In the long term the Highways Agency will build a roundabout at the Hare Green junction to improve the safety of the road, which has seen a number of serious accidents in recent years.

At a meeting of Manningtree Town Council, Carlo Guglielmi, district councillor for the area, said the Little Bentley and Little Bromley gaps needed to remain open.

The gaps connect the villages on either side of the A120 and it is feared villagers will be cut off it they are closed.
