THE Mid Essex Hospital Trust has been praised for its cancer patient care – and is one of the most improved trusts in the country.

A total of 517 cancer patients being treated in Mid Essex hospital services, covering Chelmsford, responded to this year’s survey – 27 more than last year – with results finding that cancer patients were markedlymore satisfied with the information available this year compared with last year.

The survey also found that patients were more satisfied with early diagnoses, care and treatment – and there was priase for the respect and dignity shown by doctors and nurses working at hospitals in the area, including Broomfield.

About 10,600 people are living with, or beyond, cancer in the area covered by the Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group.

It is expected that by 2030, this number will rise to 20,600.

Chelmsford MP Simon Burns said: “I wish to commend the trust on the significant improvements that this year’s survey has shown.

“There has been an improvement in all bar one of the 34 categories and the trust is out-performing the national average in almost every element of the information and involvement category.”
