A SAFETY group watching over the cancelled I Am Music festival has been criticised for not making organisers stick to time frames in the lead up to the event.
Members of Colchester Council’s scrutiny committee grilled the council’s community group service manager Cassandra Clements, who led the group, which included representatives from the council, police, ambulance and fire, at a meeting on Tuesday night.
Councillors pressed Ms Clements on why the decision to withdraw the park as a venue was made so late – two days before the event.
Dominic Graham, Liberal Democrat councillor for Mile End, said: “I think the decision to withdraw the venue was correct, but I think the date it was withdrawn was a mistake.”
