A MUM claims the failure of an A&E doctor to recognise her broken wrist had shifted is the reason she has been unable to work for six years.

Caroline Margerison, 47, of Forest Road, Colchester, fell while clearingawardrobe in 2008.

About 20 operations later, Mrs Margerison remains in constant pain and has been unable to return to work in a call centre.

Her wrist was placed in a “backslab”, allowing some movement, after the accident, before being put into a full cast.

Within a fortnight, she felt the bone move and visited Colchester General Hospital A&E.

Mrs Margerison said a doctor told her the bone could not have moved because her fingers were not blue, and decided not to do an X-ray. When a consultant removed the cast four weeks later, he discovered the bone had moved and was not lined up to heal properly.

Mrs Margerison said: “It’s frustrating not being able to do things I want to."
