One woman has been injured after a multiple vehicle incident today.

The A12 is currently blocked northbound between J24 for Kelvedon North and J25 for Marks Tey.

There are reports of up to seven vehicles being involved in the smash and three fire engines were also sent to the scene.

No-one was trapped and crews gave first aid to the casualties and ensure that the scene was safe.

An ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 4.40pm today and sent an ambulance, a rapid response car and a paramedic who are currently on scene.

"No-one is thought to be seriously injured, but a woman in her 40s suffered chest injuries believed to be from the air bag.

"Two other people from the same vehicle also needed hospital treatment and were all taken in one ambulance to Colchester General."

Several other people were also assessed but they did not need hospital treatment.

There are long delays back to J21 (Witham South/B1389) northbound and there is also slow moving traffic between J25 (Marks Tey A120) and J24 (Kelvedon North B1024) southbound.
