Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was mugged for his mobile phone by two cyclists near the Maldon Morrisons supermarket. 

Two men thumped the 23-year-old victim on the shoulder from behind before grabbing his Samsung Galaxy phone out of his hand and cycling off. 

The robbery happened on the footpath leading to Morrisons in Limebrook Way from Falcon Fields on July 4 at around 11am. 

The victim was able to provide descriptions of the two men, who were both white and in their 20s. 

One was about 5ft 11ins tall, with short light brown/blondish hair, he was broad/well built, was not wearing a top and had short or cut-down track suit bottoms.

He was riding a black racing bike with white writing on it.

The other was 6ft tall, with short black hair, wearing a plain white top and green shorts.

He was riding a red bike with broad tyres.
