Nuclear waste from Kent could be transported through villages for storage at Bradwell power station.
It is proposed that radioactive waste from Dungeness power station will be transported to Bradwell instead of building a new store in Kent in a bid to save money.
Between next year and 2018, 183 containers of waste could travel by train to Southminster and then by lorry to Bradwell.
The waste is expected to be removed from Bradwell after 2040, when a new disposal facility may become available.
Southminster district councillor Brian Beale said: “It’s only right that if we are going to take the storage at Bradwell, we want to get something out of it."
