Developers and landowners in the district have put forward plans for solar farms
Solar farm applications appear to be popping up frequently, especially in the Maldon and Burnham area.
At least five have been proposed within the last 12 months, ranging from a couple of hundred panels to 60,000.
In some cases landowners see them as a way of diversification and in others residents have raised no objections.
However, some applications have resulted in concerns about the impact on the countryside.
The Standard looks at some of the views of those for and against in this week's edition.
