One side of the A12 came to a standstill this morning after a five car collision.

The London-bound carriageway of the road was blocked after a blue Peugeot 206, a blue BMW 320, a white Ford Fiesta, a black Renault Clio and a white Citroen Berlingo were in collision near the Witham North slip road at around 7.30am.

A police spokesman said there appeared to be no serious injuries.

This is getting boring.... I travel that way each day and it has gone from a once a fortnight thing to a few times a week.

Either the people on the road are driving like idiots or the roads are over capacity?

I suspect its a bit of the first and a lot of the second- why, when the A12 was worked on 3/4 years ago, was it not turned into 3 lanes? It baffled me at the time and makes less sense now.

I just wish people were more careful. I was travelling at 6.30 yesterday morning when it was frosty and icy and someone was inches from my back bumper

Sadly, these incidents are hardly worth reporting since there is normally an accident on the A12 pretty much every day. It would be more news-worthy to report a day when nothing untoward happens.

It's nothing more than careless drivers rushing to work.
People, chill out, don't rush to work, you don't want to be there anyway!!

I joined the A12 at Colchester at 915 this morning and it took me 30 minutes to crawl a mile and a half past the accident site. Why? Were the cars on the carriageway? Were the emergency services still there? No. The cars were in the layby by the roadside cafe and the reason for the queues were rubberneckers having a look at a few dented cars.

What is the point? Look where you're going otherwise you'll cause more accidents you gawpers. Go find a window to lick!

another day on the a12 i travel this road everyday i think most of the problems are caused by careless drivers driving too fast or talking on thier mobiles what we need are more police patrols on the a12 to get rid of some of the idiot drivers ban them for life

Simon how do you know where all the cars were if you were not rubbernecking and slowing the traffic. It is human nature to stick you nose in unless authority asks in which case 95% pretend they now nothing.

Because Andy, like I said, I was crawling along at 15mph behind everyone else!

Can't anyone just be pleased there were no serious injuries?
