SOUTH Suffolk voters once again supported the man who has represented them for the past 27 years.

Tory Tim Yeo polled 24,550 votes in the General Election, scoring almost 10,000 more than second placed candidate Lib Dem, Nigel Bennett.

Mr Bennett polled 15,861 votes while Labour’s Emma Bishton earned 7,368 and UKIP’s David Campbell Bannerman took 3,637.

Mr Yeo said: “I am very, very pleased, it is nice after all that time I get can that majority.

"We are thrilled by the result and I am very much looking forward to serving in this new parliament.”

A total of 51,545 people went to the poles on the day, a turn out of 71.1%.
