BEACONSFIELD will once again have a working chamber of commerce after a new executive committee and officers were elected at a meeting this week.

The Beaconsfield and District Chamber of Commerce was in turmoil after the resignation of former chairman Andre De Marsac at the end of last year.

The organisation found itself without a chairman, secretary or treasurer, and the only person able to call an AGM was Honorary Vice President, town councillor Elsie Barton (Con, North Ward).

The 12 committee members were voted in on Tuesday evening by representatives from the business community in Beaconsfield.

Town councillor Teresa Rosell (Con, North Ward) is the council representative on the chamber, and she believes a vibrant chamber of commerce is vital for Beaconsfield.

She said: "This is all so exciting.

"The new members have a clear view of where they want to take the organisation.

"The people of the town really will feel the benefits and the stronger the chamber of commerce is, the more noticeable will be the benefits."

The new chamber will firstly set about installing CCTV cameras using the £113,000 grant allocated by central government last year.

The executive committee will include new chairman and president Adrian Busby, managing director of Group Trading Alliance in Beaconsfield, secretary Rodney Lloyd, of Opec Contracts in Beaconsfield, and treasurer Terry Monks, of McBride Plc in Beaconsfield.
