POLICE have welcomed the FA Cup fourth round tie against Wolves as not only a sporting victory but a home win against crime.

About 50 extra officers were drafted in to police the town for the match at Adams Park on Saturday. Another 40 officers, paid for by the club, were stationed in the ground for the match which was a sell-out.

The increased police presence was necessary after Wycombe Wanderers sold out of tickets for the game.

Chief Inspector of Operations for Chiltern Vale Police Keith Ringsell said that no arrests were made in connection with the match.

Before the match he said: "Every football club now has a police liaison officer and the intelligence we have received says they (Wolves) are not looking for trouble and are not a troublesome club."

Chief Insp Ringsell said later: "From our perspective everything went well. There have been no arrests and the crowd behaved themselves very well.

"Normally there is more trouble if the away side loses and in this case they were a first division side and would expect to win, but Wycombe has very good fans who have behaved and Wolves fans have taken it very graciously and gone off home."
