A BUS DRIVER was subjected to abuse and punched in the face for not letting a passenger bring his bike on to a packed bus.
A man in his 20s began shouting at the bus driver on Monday morning at around 9am after he was told he could not bring his bike on the bus because there was nowhere to put it.
He then punched the middle-aged driver leaving him with a cut down the side of his face before getting off the bus in the High Street, High Wycombe.
Gemma Sulston, from Princes Risborough, who was a passenger on the Maidenhead bus, said that she heard the man raising his voice and hurling abuse at the driver.
She added: "The bus driver told him there wasn't any room for the bike but he wouldn't accept it and just kept arguing with him.
"He was getting closer and closer to the bus driver's face and eventually just smacked him and he ended up with a big cut under his eye."
David Shadbolt, spokesman for Arriva the Shires and Essex, which runs the buses, said: "This is a very serious matter and extremely worrying both for our staff and for other passengers travelling on the bus at the time."
The man who attacked the driver is described as black, in his early 20s, of slim build and around 6ft tall.
