A WRINKLED and yellow copy of our sister paper the Midweek has been found from December 30, 1975 after an office tidy-up.

Copies of the paper are normally stored on film, so it was a rare find among a pile of old photographs.

The issue, then a broadsheet, cost 5p and the front page headline was This Year? Next Year? Some Time? Never?.

It related to a long-running story about The Chequers pub in High Wycombe town centre.

Conservationists were fighting to save the 16th century pub and said it was worth preserving.

Other front page stories included a £500 raid on a house in Wooburn Green and a Boxing Day pram race at Wycombe Marsh.

Pooch queen Barbara Woodhouse also gave a dog owner advice about telepathic dog training.

If you have any old copies of any of our papers that you do not want, send them to Kelly Clayton at the Bucks Free Press.
