We all understand that local authorities are often forced to make difficult decisions in order to balance their books.

But it's always unfair when community projects are forced to be scrapped because of a lack of cash.

Staff and bosses at Chesham's Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) wanted a new drop-in centre and increased services for local people.

The plans, though, have been shelved after Chiltern District Council said it wouldn't give any more cash to the bureau because the project was unsustainable.

This seems a great pity as CAB offers a vital service to many members of community and any expansion would be greatly welcomed.

We say to Chiltern District Council, think again about this project.

If you can find the money to support it, the expansion will really end up being a benefit to the community for many years to come.
