A GROUP of illegal immigrants packed into a lorry travelling on the motorway, were stopped in their tracks after alerting other motorists to their presence.

Police swooped on the lorry after six illegal immigrants were spotted waving out of the back at passing cars.

The lorry was initially seen by a member of the public on the M25 when police were alerted to the waving immigrants.

Metropolitan Police joined forces with the Thames Valley Police after spotting the lorry at junction two of the M40 and finally escorting it to High Wycombe Police Station on Friday, January 5 at around 9am.

The immigrants, all men in their 20s believed to be Iranian, are now being dealt with by the immigration authorities.

The Algerian lorry driver was detained at the police station but has since been released to be dealt with by immigration.
